A friend that works in the bike section of Toys "R" Us told me that someone came in and said that they had seen someone riding a bike that would bend and they wanted to buy one. They should have given me his phone number. Here are some of the many comments I've gotten on it -- or overheard.

• "Yo dawg! How much dat Swing Bike worth?"
• "I haven't seen one of those in 20 years!"
• "Where did you get that Swing Bike?"
• "Whoa, look at that bike!"
• "That is the coolest bike I've ever seen!"
• "Whoa -- did you see that?" -- Riding sideways.
• "Mind if I try it?" -- Bike shop owner.
• "I know where a guy in Colorado has a bunch of those." -- Bike shop owner.
• "I never would have known if you hadn't told me is wasn't a real one. It looks like one to me."
• When I went to pick up the pics the guy that developed the film, I guess he looked at them, because he said he wanted to see the yellow bike.

After years of building swingbikes from scrap parts, I have recently started building frames of a higher quality. I have found local steel suppliers and tubing benders. The result is what you see in these pictures. The Orange Krate was partially inspired by David Tyler's Apple Krate swing-ray in your gallery on the swing bike website. I would like to acknowlege him in this inspiration and I would love to see it next to his in the gallery if you would be willing to add it.

After building a few bikes I started changing the frame geometry. I like to have the rear steer tube relocated futher back and I make the top frames longer to give it a sleeker shape and give them more swing.

Bob, I contacted you a few months ago to ask about Brent Wulfensteins swing bike frames. I had him build me a couple. Attached is a pic of mine, it is adult sized. I'm 6', and this bike is actually a little big for me with the 25" ape hangers.

Brents frames are pretty decent, everything is straight and strong. He likes to ship them bare metal, and I would suggest people who ask do that and finish and paint them themselves.

The reason I wanted one of these was because of the extra gussets on the top tubes, and I had him beef up the connection to the bottom bracket. I'm kinda known in the local Mountain Bike scene for breaking frames and braking pedals off, and I didn't want to ruin a real one!

This way I can have fun trying stuff without worrying about scratches or scuffs!

This is or was the bare metal frame that you have on my page on your site. I built it with design input from the buyer. I sold the frame only to him and he finished it up beautifully.
